Already gaining a reputation for our refurbished iPhone screens, becoming a fast favourite of their customers, we have extended their refurbishing process to include iPad screen replacements.
iParts4u are reducing e-waste by running an LCD buyback scheme where customers can send in their old and broken screens and get paid for them. We then replace the broken glass, and sell the screens on, giving our customers original digitisers and touch layers for superior quality without having to go to the original manufacturer who limits their supply to only their approved vendors and charges a premium. The benefit of us refurbishing our own screens in-house is there are no import costs, no CO2 emissions from overseas transport and no other companies involved, meaning the screens are at the lowest possible cost. On top of this, as the demand for screen refurbishing goes up, we can increase the size of their technical team, upskilling existing staff and creating more jobs in the local area.
How are screens refurbished?
Refurbishing is a fiddly process, but not overly complicated. The screens are prepared and heated and the old glass and polariser are removed using diamond wire and a blade. A new polariser and front glass are added in a dust-free environment, then laminated together to create a full screen. The screens are then quality checked by our head technician and spot checked by our managing director David. David’s 13-year industry experience and company running schedule don’t stop him from getting down in the trenches and he can often be found in the tech room, preparing screens himself. If you’re interested in learning how to refurbish your screens yourself, we offer training courses where you will work with the technicians to refurbish your own screens, which you can then take back with you to use on repairs.
Are refurbished screens better than aftermarket?
Yes and no. At iParts4U, we believe in giving our customers a choice, weighing up the features they like of individual screens rather than making blanket statements. For instance whilst one customer might love the genuine screen colour quality of a refurbished screen, another would value the IP9 extended warranty more. There are a lot of different factors between these two screens. In terms of quality, the iParts4U refurbished screens are the best, they are made from original components and regenerated to an extremely high standard in-house. Aftermarket screens like the IP9 are not made from genuine components however that means that manufacturers like ourselves have a lot more control over the parts used, selecting them based on their quality and giving them the ability to create a bespoke screen for their needs. There is also a cost difference, whilst we go to every length to keep the cost of their refurbished screens down, aftermarket is a cheaper alternative as they don’t use original parts so come in at a lower cost price to the company. So it’s not as straightforward as one being better than the other, it is more about the individual needs of the customer and what their priorities are.
