This part is a small printed circuit board that allows the ambient light sensor to be connected to the main logic board of the phone. The purpose of the ambient light sensor is to enable the phone to adjust screen brightness depending on the different levels of light at different times of the day or in varied weather conditions. If this cable fails then the iPhone 12's ability to adjust brightness will stop working as it should.
