Replace a damaged or faulty M92T36 USB-C charging power control IC on any Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite, or Switch OLED with this aftermarket QFN-40 replacement chip. The M92T36 is a USB-C Power Delivery Controller integrated circuit manufactured to ROHM specification, responsible for regulating charging voltage through the USB-C port when the Switch is docked or connected to a charger. It is the most commonly failed chip in the Switch charging circuit and the first component to check when a Switch will not turn on, will not charge, or has been damaged by a non-Nintendo dock or charger.

This is a precision SMD component in a 40-pin QFN package requiring microsoldering repair — hot air rework station and BGA-grade soldering skills are essential. It cannot be fitted with a soldering iron alone. Once fitted by a qualified microsoldering technician, the chip restores full charging functionality to the affected Switch console. Common symptoms of M92T36 failure include the console drawing high idle current (typically over 0.4A), refusing to power on, refusing to charge, or charging extremely slowly.

Common Faults Resolved

  • Nintendo Switch will not power on at all
  • Switch will not charge when connected via USB-C
  • Switch charges extremely slowly or intermittently
  • Console draws unusually high current at idle (above 0.4A)
  • Damage caused by third-party docks (the most common cause of M92T36 failure)
  • Damage caused by non-Nintendo USB-C chargers or cables
  • Console powers on briefly then dies when charger is disconnected
  • USB-C charging port appears physically intact but charging is non-functional
  • Battery shows charging icon but battery level does not increase
  • Failed prior repair on Switch motherboard

Key Features

  • Manufactured to ROHM M92T36 specification — QFN-40 package, USB-C Power Delivery Controller IC
  • Aftermarket replacement — same form factor, function, and electrical characteristics as the OEM chip
  • Compatible with ALL Nintendo Switch variants — original Switch (HAC-001), Switch Lite (HDH-001), and Switch OLED (HEG-001)
  • Region-independent — works on consoles from any global region (US, UK, EU, Japan, Asia)
  • QFN-40 package for board-level repair on the Switch motherboard
  • Microsoldering-grade component — manufactured for board-level repair professionals
  • UK trade dispatch with fast delivery to UK repair shops
  • No warranty applicable — consumable component, function verified at fitting

Compatible With

  • Nintendo Switch — HAC-001 (original 2017 launch model)
  • Nintendo Switch — HAC-001-01 (revised 2019 model, improved battery life)
  • Nintendo Switch Lite — HDH-001
  • Nintendo Switch OLED — HEG-001
  • All region variants (US, UK, EU, Japan, Asia)

Not Compatible With

  • Nintendo Switch 2 (post-2024 successor) — uses a different charging IC architecture
  • Nintendo 3DS / 3DS XL / 2DS — different chipset, no USB-C
  • Nintendo Wii U / Wii — different power delivery system
  • Steam Deck or other handheld consoles — different IC requirements

What's Included

  • 1 x M92T36 USB-C Charging Power Control IC Chip (aftermarket, QFN-40 package, suitable for microsoldering repair)

Important Notes

  • MICROSOLDERING REQUIRED: this is a board-level SMD component. Fitment requires a hot air rework station, microsoldering iron, flux, solder paste, and BGA-grade repair skills. It cannot be fitted with a soldering iron alone — do not attempt without proper equipment.
  • Diagnose before replacing: M92T36 failure is the most common cause of Switch charging issues but not the only one. Other suspects include the P13USB IC, the USB-C port itself, and the BQ24193 battery management IC. Check current draw at idle (over 0.4A suggests M92T36) before committing to replacement.
  • Damaged by third-party docks: the original cause of M92T36 failure should be removed before fitting the replacement — otherwise the new chip will fail the same way. Recommend the customer use only Nintendo-branded dock and charger after repair.
  • Check surrounding components: when M92T36 fails it often damages nearby components (capacitors, the BQ24193, board traces). Inspect the surrounding area carefully and replace any damaged passives before fitting the new chip.
  • No warranty on consumable IC: SMD ICs are consumables — warranty does not apply to chips damaged by reverse polarity, electrostatic discharge, or fitting errors. Static-safe handling and bench grounding are mandatory.
  • ESD precautions: handle with anti-static wrist strap and on an ESD-safe mat. Static damage to the chip is permanent and undetectable until fitment.
  • Bench-test before reassembly: after fitting, connect Switch to a USB-C charger and verify charge indicator illuminates, current draw normalises (below 0.4A at idle), and battery percentage increases. Test in both handheld and docked modes if applicable.
  • Switch Lite has no dock support — only direct USB-C charging applies for this model.
