Important Notes

• Confirm the layout before fitting: check that the £ sign appears on Shift+3 and that the Enter key is double-height before installation. If the original keyboard had a different layout (e.g. US flat-Enter, German QWERTZ), this UK-layout part will produce a mismatch between key markings and the OS keyboard mapping.
• Disconnect the battery before fitment to prevent accidental short circuits during ribbon connector swap. On Lenovo G-series laptops the battery is removable — slide the battery release and remove before any internal work.
• Ribbon cable handling: the keyboard ribbon connector is small and fragile. Lift the ZIF connector latch fully before sliding the new ribbon in, and confirm the latch is fully closed before powering on. Forcing the latch will damage the connector on the motherboard, which is a far more expensive repair.
• Mounting clips: the Lenovo G-series keyboard is retained by small clips around the perimeter of the keyboard tray, plus screws on the bottom of the laptop. Release the screws first, then ease the keyboard up with a plastic spudger to avoid scratching the palm rest.
• Test before reassembly: after fitting the new keyboard, boot the laptop with the bottom panel still off and type-test every key in a text editor before securing all the screws.
